Think of the controversy that Copernicus and Galileo made by discovering that the Earth is not the center and that the Earth revolves around the Sun and the reaction and uproar made by those against it...now think at the very same time of the loud and proud statements of those in denial the Earth was orbiting the Sun just as it always had. The Universe did not change despite human assumptions. The Universe yawned as a group of primates demanded that the Earth is the center. It is a split picture of absurdity. Human language is not only the source of our ingenuity but also the source of our arrogance and illusions of grandeur. No matter the sound of fury from human civilization the Earth moved around the Sun according to the laws of the Universe not to the man made laws of a primate species limited by time and space. The Earth nor the Sun did not need human acknowledgment or approval to proceed. Humans seek the approval and acknowledgment of the Universe but the silence to human solipsistic assumptions and self -aggrandizement is a sign the Universe is not ours to command. The magic of language can only distort the inner picture not the reality that is.
Recantation of Galileo (June 22, 1633)
"I, Galileo, son of the late Vincenzo Galilei, Florentine, aged seventy years, arraigned personally before this tribunal, and kneeling before you, Most Eminent and Reverend Lord Cardinals, Inquisitors-... after an injunction had been judicially intimated to me by this Holy Office, to the effect that I must altogether abandon the false opinion that the sun is the center of the world and immovable, and that the earth is not the center of the world, and moves, and that I must not hold, defend, or teach in any way whatsoever, verbally or in writing, the said false doctrine, and after it had been notified to me that the said doctrine was contrary to Holy Scripture..."
