"Whatever you do, crush the infamy." - Voltaire
Ecrasez l'infame
Ecrasez l'infame -Crush the Infamous thing. The infamy being superstition and religious credulity. Voltaire was brought to this proclamation after the earthquake in Lisbon (1755) when the clergy responded with blaming the tragedy on the "sin" of the people.
I appreciate thinking theists who take life as a serious question but mainstream theism with its credulity and superstitious solipsism should be challenged and crushed because as it was in Voltaire's day it grinds down the credulous and celebrates ignorance to the detriment of progress and liberty.
Faith is a vice and skepticism a virtue.
Popular theism corrupts and stagnates culture but curiosity and skepticism pour fuel on the fire of education and innovation.
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing."
Albert Einstein
