W.E.B Du Bois
There is a price to pay for humans to be comfortable and smug regarding the suffering of other human beings. Eventually the volcano erupts. No longer is food and entertainment enough to suffice. Man cannot live on bread and circus alone but needs justice, purpose, and dignity. Income inequality, a failing education system, and no unifying principles is a disaster in waiting for human cohesion. Liberal Pluralism takes a strong infrastructure, a vigorous education system, and a unifying constitution that protects human rights and dignity. Tribalism and extremism will flourish with neglect and ignorance. Tribalism flourishes in a desert. Pluralism takes great care and nurturing.
